Day one (ben)

So…. day one began with shoulders and quads. My trainer, Ron (who is also my cousin’s husband… along with being a retired Army Ranger) worked my delts hard today. It had been over a week (ok… it has been 3 weeks) since I worked those muscles, so i was hurting by the end of that round of routine. My quads are in pretty good shape, so I just did some leg presses and extensions and was out of there by 7:00am. Oh, btw… I weighed in at 300lbs even this morning.

I’m using Beverly International’s Ultra Size Vanilla product right now. Good protein combo for muscle healing, & muscle building. Lots of good amino acids, etc. I hoping it will continue to help build muscle while burning off fat. I usually use my Magic Bullet mixer since I can use it’s provided cup to mix everything. I do two scoops, along with 2 tblsps of olive oil, a couple of ice cubes, then top off with water. Its pretty good stuff. I’ll also drop in some peanut butter (natural, not sweetened) or a couple tblsps of flax seed.

After my shower, I take a whole regimen of supplements and vitamins. Some are an attempt to bring down my cholesterol and triglycerides. I take my men’s daily vitamin, fish oil pills, and niacin. On top of that, I take CoQ10 (essential stuff IMHO), and a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc pill. Don’t ask me where I came up with this cocktail of stuff…. I’m still working on what I probably need, and what I’m just pissin’ away.

My early snack meal will generally be peanuts or trail mix… which is what I keep on my desk.

I tried Salisbury Steak meal from Healthy Choice… the meat and potatoes were pretty good… the veggies were “meh” at best. The apple/oatmeal dessert was pretty good. Overall, I’d rate it around a 6 or 7.

I am trying to stand up and stretch a few times a day, just to let the blood flow. I have been having some sciatic problems on my left side, so I do stretch out my glutes when I remember.

Afternoon snack, I’m gonna have to get a little creative. I have a different pack of trail mix that is a cajun mix from WalMart. Pretty good… but not sure of the results all those nuts will do to my insides. Maybe I’ll bring some more powder for an afternoon shake…. or keep packets of tuna around with some varying seasonings….. we’ll see.

Supper may not bode well for my “day 1”…. we still have a bunch of stuff I just can’t bare to throw away…. including some home made chicken and noodles my mom just made and dropped off…. so much for knocking out bad carbs 100%…. I’ll get into ketosis someday… oy.

So… for 3 Big Dudes… I’m Ben… signing off for now
